Extract from the Rebel Alliance Sourcebook, page 35:
[...] based upon a transport capacity of a Wolden-class shuttle [...] That gives us room for about 75 troopers and maybe 1,000 kilos of equipment. [...]
Important Note:
It is mentioned that there was needed reserve space for about additional 40 passengers. These informations given, the real trooper capacity was calculated.
Already being an older craft, Rendili StarDrives Wolden-class troop shuttle is one of the largest of its class. Unlike the smaller boarding vessel by the manufacturer - the Katarn-class boarding shuttle - this one had been designed for both mission profiles, boarding operations and troop transport. For this reason the ship is equipped with a hyperdrive, and thus makes it more variable than any other boarding ship. These features made the ship very attractive for the Rebel Alliance as it fit perfectly in "hit-and-run" mission profile of the Rebels. Once they had captured some of them, they were used on many missions to raid Imperial ships and outposts.
Such a mission was also "Operation Cobolt", planned by famous General Crix Madine. Using such a craft together with a captured assault shuttle and several starfighter squadrons, the Rebels attacked the Imperial orbital base above Mantooine in order to steal a new intelligence computer and destroy the base. Although the mission was successful, the Rebels had to accept heavy losses of personnel and starfighters.
The shuttle itself has space for three complete platoons, 114 troopers in total, and is piloted by a crew of two. Seven gunners are needed to handle the laser cannons and the boarding device which is mounted on the shuttle's airlock. When docked at the target object, the plasma torch then cuts through the hull. Once there's a breach in the hull, a 1x2 meter large hole is opened within one minute. Finally, the boarding tube needs half a minute to enable a passage to the target object.
