The Starhook Space Truck is a design by Shobquix Yards, a small starship manufacturer who also invented the Gauntlet starfighter. The space truck was intended to play a major role in the medium freighter market, but competition was quite strong at its time of release. Other designs like the Mobquet Medium Cargo Hauler by TaggeCo. were more popular within the circles of traders. Although the Starhook is able to carry more cargo than its competitor, it is slower than the Mobquet product. As other medium freighters, the Starhook features strong shields and a thick hull to defend the goods in the large cargo bays. Despite the fact that the ship is not well known, many of them have been seen in the ranks of smugglers and the Rebel Alliance who use them for simple cargo runs.
It is known that Shug Ninx, a master mechanic with his shop on the moon Nar Shaddaa, possesses one of these ships himself, which has undergone several modifications since he acquired it. It was an essential part of the Rebel's operations during the Dark Empire Era (see: Salvager III/Starhook VII/X).
The Starhook X is one of Shug Ninx' starships, located in his garage on the smugglers moon Nar Shaddaa. As all other ships there, it has undergone several modifications. The Starhook X was used by Shug Ninx and Salle Zend for a flight to Byss in the galactic core, in order to find Salla's lost ship, the Starlight Intruder. During this voyage they used false codes to pass the controls, identifying the ship as the Salvager Three.
Still on Byss, the Starhook X was essential for the rescue of a Rebel task force under the command of Generals Lando Calrissian and Wedge Antilles when they were attacked by the Emperor's Mutant Beasts. The Starhook X took the forces aboard, and together with two other allied smuggler ships they managed to escape the planet.
When the Rebel's safe world New Alderaan was suddenly attacked by Imperial forces, the Starhook X again intervened, accompanied by four allied ships, among them the Millennium Falcon. After the colony had been evacuated, the four ships fled to the distant Auril system where they sought shelter on Nepsis VII, an ancient city in space.
Note: Please note that The Essential Guide to Characters introduces Shug Ninx' ship as the Starhook VII. It is not known whether this is by accident or not.
