The Mark II Bulk Transport is an older model bulk freighter. It was manufactured by Sienar Ships during the era of the Old Republic, not long before Palpatine took control of the Galaxy. Sienar Ships was the civil branch of Republic Sienar Systems who produced the first TIE fighters for the Empire. Sienar ships produced a number of freighters and transports. One of the more popular series were the Sienar Ships bulk transport series. The first model in this series was the Mark I Bulk Transport, which became quite popular.
When increasingly cargo space was necessary to support the military fleets of the New Order, Sienar Ships continued its transport series with the Mark II bulk transport. But this model beacme never as popular as its predecessor, beacuse Sienar Ships developped, shortly after the completion of the Mark II, already a new design, the Mark III bulk transport which could even carry more cargo than the Mark II bulk transport.
As the other models of Sienar Ship's bulk transport sereis, the Mark II has no shields but instead strong hull plating. The Sienar Ship's bulk transports also lack heavy weaponry, as they were only assigned to operate in secure systems of the Empire. But nonethelsess, these bulk transports are reliable ships and are optimal for supporting large fleets.
