Being the thir capital-scale patrol craft manufactured by Sienar Fleet System, the IPV/h is slightly different from its predecessors, the IR-3F and the IPV-1. Firts of all the ship is equipped with a hyperdrive, giving the crew the possibility to patrol through the surrounding systems as well. This gave the ship its name - IPV/h ("h" stands for hyperdrive). The ship is also more heavily armed than others, as it features small complement of ion cannons besides the Turbolasers.
The most special thing however, is a modular TIE hangar which can be attached to the hull and can carry 2 TIE/ln fighters. This is a tactical advantage usually not known to pirates and smugglers. The fast TIE fighters catch the fleeing ship while the IPV/h heads after them and the troops prepare for boarding. So, ship and crew don't depend on fast sublight engines. If a modular hangar is attached for a patrol tour or not is the captains decision But they normally use this given advantage with pleasure, although the hangar reduces the ship's maneuverability.
